We crossed to another continent to reach the sunset over the Maiden's Tower called in Turkish Kiz Kulesi. On the Asian side of Istanbul, before the pandemic, a cafe filled with rugs and mint tea that was on the banks of the Bosphorus.
There were no traces of this bar, although there are some steps to improvise a picnic. However, the afternoon heat led us to the terrace of the Filizler Koftecisi bar with privileged views for this Asian sunset.
- Railay Bay (Railay Bay, Thailand)
We need a plane, a bus and a boat to get to Railay Bay in Thailand. This paradisiacal island where we would spend 3 nights received us about 2 hours before sunset and with the tide receding from the beach. They say that the first impression is the one that counts, but fortunately this time it was not like that.
After leaving the luggage we walked along the coast with a kind of disappointment for the lack of the sea to refresh us. A while later all those emotions were diluted when the sun played between the sea and the immense rocks that seemed drawn on the horizon.
Nature has its times and movements, it is a matter of surrendering to its beauty as it is and enjoying what it has in store for us. at different times of the day.
- Sunset on the Nile (Luxor, Egypt)
We chose a hotel in Luxor overlooking the Nile and that was non-negotiable. the days in Egypt they are always intense, and after a shower we sit on the balcony to admire the sunset in a cloudless sky.
Our minds associated that moment with the images that other inhabitants of that ancient civilization must have experienced. The orange sun disappeared into the Nile and at the same time the lights of the necropolis of the Valley of the Kings came on. There was no magic since someone will be in charge of turning them on every night, but from that balcony we felt that this show was for us.
- The Happy Island (Aruba)
We traveled to Aruba knowing its famous sunsets. Every afternoon we repeat the ceremony of sitting on the beach with a drink of Aruba Ariba in hand, waiting for the indicated hour in the Happy Island. Although we were aware of what we expected to see, and although the daily scene was already familiar to us, there was no sunset like another.
Some days the white clouds and others the black clouds posed in front of our cell phones. Some reddish colors or some pinkish colors. A sailboat, a boat, some water sportsman or the dogs on the beach. We were never alone and perhaps we were never better accompanied than in those 8 dreamy sunsets.
- Villa Epecuen (Buenos Aires, Argentina)
A weekend 500 km from home promised us to learn the story of a tragic flood and the ruins of a city that used to be full of tourists. We were almost alone walking through what used to be the main street of this place in the province of Buenos Aires, when we had to speed up our pace to reach the shore of the lake at sunset.
The light reflected on the water the trees dried by the salt and the remains of the buildings that proudly received so many travelers two decades ago.
