Putting order in my life before the new year

I still remember the illusion of starting the year 2020. What a beautiful number I told myself. A change of decade. What would not cross my mind is that this year would be a change of mentality, for me, for everyone. 2020 changed our lives. Literally.

From my point of view crises are the best time to grow as people. In moments of crisis is when I have learned the most and if I am grateful for something in this life it is giving me that mental clarity to see the good side of each lurch that life gives.

Crises are the best time to grow as people

Staying strong in the most difficult situations is not an option, it is a necessity. I am sorry that 2020, despite all the bad things that have happened, has left us with many positive things, as a society. I notice it in myself and in my closest environment.

However, next to white is almost always black, and right next to the positive there are also negative things that I would like to improve. That is why I would like to share with you this kind of declaration of intent for this 2021.

I have a lot of hope for this 2021: many decisions to make, paths to try, goals to meet and obstacles to overcome. I don't want to load the year 2021 with all the activities and projects that this year could not have been.

2020 taught me not to plan life so much.

They say that if something doesn't happen it's also a good sign. Well that. What no one can take away from us is hope, the hope of changing course and not trembling with fear or loneliness. Hope. Nice word.

Without hope our plans would not make sense, without a meaning to give to our existence we lose the spark we need to live motivated and with purpose.

Shall we start?

professional approach

At the beginning of this year I wasn't very clear about what I wanted. Work, save and travel. Come on, typical of me. And everyone who knows me knows it. But life is much more than that and this is 2020 I came face to face with reality.

Right now it's not that things have changed too much, honestly I feel a bit lost in the world of work. Although I am very clear that I do not need X work to be happy, I am aware that I must focus on something that I like.

This 2021 I would like to try new things to get out of that unknown. Test, test and test!

Lose the fear of starting

Although I do not consider myself a fearful person, I must admit that the world of entrepreneurship gives me a lot of respect.

Maybe it's the fear of being wrong. Or rather what others say. An entrepreneurial attitude is something I admire a lot in people. They have a huge ability to tolerate uncertainty and risk. *If anyone has a book to recommend on this subject, they are more than welcome. 🙂

Although I do not carry out any project this 2021, I do need to seriously consider it as a possible alternative to achieving my dreams.

If you don't work for your dreams, someone will hire you to work for theirs.

Steve Jobs

*Although not all of us can be autonomous, we can try to do what we like and enjoy our work.

If I don't try, how will I know what I like?

Be more flexible. Detachment

As a friend says: flexibility is never enough.

Learn to adapt better to the circumstances that are presented to me. If I want to undertake I need a lot of flexibility to accept what does not go well, included I need to know how to adapt to what goes too well.

For this I have already been mentalizing all year and I hope in this 2021 to put into practice what I have learned.

Practicing the flow, working hard and at the same time letting go of the result. I want to enjoy my learning processes without getting too attached to what might happen.

When detachment kicks in, we feel liberated. Results come by themselves, good or bad.

Establish a work routine

Establishing a few hours of daily work will help me to create certain habits both make it easier for me to manage the different tasks that I have to face If I want to start working on my own.

In this aspect I have thought of establishing some complementary hours to my work. A time that allows me investigate, analyze, test and inquire into the different alternatives that I have at hand.

This will create a custom that I can change according to my needs.

*I'm going to cross my fingers to do it right and that this habit really integrates into my routine.

Meaningful purposes: actions and tasks

Write down the different objectives in a notebook or, as is my case, in a project management App. Asana.

An organized person is synonymous with an organized mind.

Task managers are super useful for organization of tasks as well as vital for a more productive routine. This blog was created with small daily tasks. Hence, I want to extrapolate this method to my entire work routine.

Task managers help me better visualize the different objectives as a whole, come on, what I see everything more clearly.

I have been using the ASANA app few months, I have gone from the typical lists that you cross out on paper to create projects whole and within those projects put myself small tasks to accomplish. Much more enjoyable, easy and accessible.

In addition to feeling more productive and organized, I can personalize my projects with colors and shapes. I am a very visual person. I like to have everything as beautiful as possible, I don't know, it kind of encourages me to do things and I feel more motivated. Doesn't it happen to you?

Eliminate/reduce the use of social networks

If something has stuck with me this year, it is the following: social networks are very (too) addictive and can considerably influence decision-making. It is demonstrated that through them we are much more susceptible to certain behaviors.

I am very clear that Leaving Social Networks 100% is not the solutionIn fact, Social Networks are not to blame for the misuse that we can give to it. My goal is to reduce its use to about 2 hours a day. Including all the Simple Republic Networks, personal accounts, time on YouTube and my personal project.

It may seem like a short time for so many things, so this 2021 I will try to be aware of where and how my time is going on the networks.

Although I apply digital minimalism both for this blog and everything that has to do with it, as well as for my personal life, I feel that it is still not enough and that If I want to go to the next level, I need to eliminate those networks that I don't use as much and keep only those that provide me with real value..

I'm sure I left something out to mention, well... why rush? We have a whole year ahead of us to organize ourselves, add new challenges and also to eliminate what doesn't lead anywhere.

Tell me, and you, what do you plan to do with your only and imperfect year 2021?
